Construction at-a-glance description
Design: Final agreements between The City of Calgary, Government of Alberta, Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation and Calgary Exhibition and Stampede officially launched the design phase.
Site preparation: Crews began to transform the 10-acre space, first by moving 5 Street S.E. to the east and building 5A Street S.E. Excavation began following a formal ground-breaking and design reveal event on July 22, 2024.
Construction: Construction started on the foundation in January 2025, with Scotia Place scheduled to open fall 2027.
